

Leona was born in Terre Haute on August 25, 1920, the daughter of the late Leslie and Iva (Collins) Stewart. In November of 1939, Leona was united in marriage to her husband, Hubert Faris, who preceded her in death after 47 years of marriage. Leona was a hardworking woman, who enjoyed working at the Vigo County Assesor’s Office, where she was employed until she was 80 years old.
She is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis and husband Jay Shaw of Terre Haute and Susie and husband Ed Fenton of Zionsville; grandchildren, Jeff Shaw of Sonoma, CA., Brad and wife Bobbi Fenton of Zionsville, Jayne and husband Pat Delmedico of Sarasota, FL. and Keith Fenton of Zionsville. Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Jacob Fenton, Josh Fenton, Parker Delmedico, Maddy Delmedico, Zack Delmedico and Brittany Moss, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Leona was welcomed home to heaven by her brothers, Virgil Stewart and Raymond Stewart and sister, Helen Stewart Fairbanks.
The entire Faris family would like to thank the staff of Zionsville Meadows, where Leona resided, for their kind, loving and compassionate care they provided.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute. A family graveside service will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Bernie Jackson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Leona may be directed to the Humane Society.
