Lillian Joyce Smith Austin

Lillian Joyce (Smith) Austin, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Union Hospital. She was born on September 15, 1930, in Pontiac, MI to Walter and Ruby (Moore) Smith. She married James J. Austin. Lillian worked as a beautician and a housewife. She loved to travel, play bingo, and was a big kid at heart. She was known for her sense of humor and contagious laughter. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and a loving wife. She will be truly missed and never forgotten.

Lillian is survived by her daughter, Joyce Virostko and her husband Gary of Rockville; grandchildren, LeeAnn Moody of Terre Haute, SuzAnne Austin of Terre Haute, and Michael Virostko of Walton Beach, FL; great-grandchildren, Kendall Austin, Eden, Daven, and Damen Moody, all of Terre Haute; brothers, Melvin Smith of Terre Haute, and Benny Smith and his wife Becky of Seelyville; sisters, Mary Ellen Stansberry of Terre Haute, Corrine Phelps of La Mesa, CA, Doris Venters and her husband Delbert of Plant City, FL; Delores Wilson and her husband Edward of Terre Haute; an aunt Martha Moore of Rockville; and brother-in-law Larry Austin and his wife Dorothy of KY, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, a son, James E. Austin, and brothers, Edward and William Smith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16 from 3:30 until 5:30 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 5:30 on Thursday, August 16 at the funeral home with Pastor Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park.
