

Naomi H. Rowings, 89, of Rushville, IN, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born on October 1, 1922, in Putnam County to Albert Henderson and Laura Francis (Mottern) Spencer. Naomi graduated in 1940 from Greene Township High School in Parke County. She married her husband of 57 years on July 5, 1942. They resided in the South Bend area. She was a 4H leader, Den Mother and member for 47 years of Progressive Homemakers Club. . Naomi was an active associate member of DAR. Naomi was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church in South Bend , the Sew and Sew Quilters and a knitting group. She was a member of the Always Welcome club of Rush County for 3 years. Naomi’s greatest joy was her family.
Naomi is survived by her children, Margaret Louise (Rowings) Deutsch and her husband John of Rushville, and James Emerson Rowings, Jr. and his wife LaDona of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Hilary(Alex)Kent, Adam Rowings, and Britta Rowings, a great-grandson, Nolan Kent and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, a brother, Robert H. Spencer, sister, Mary Katherine Stryker and a half-sister, Bertrell Spencer.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
