Nellie Marie Hirth

Nellie Marie Hargis Hirth passed away on her 87th birthday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 16, 1927, to Charles and Grace Hargis. She married Jack F. Hirth March 10, 1950, who preceded her in death in 2007.

Nellie’s joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her sweet and loving nature taught her family love, respect and kindness. She truly lived by the Golden Rule: Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You. She also worked at Commercial Solvents during World War II and retired from Great Scot Accounting Office. Nellie enjoyed traveling, playing cards, games with her family, and NASCAR racing. Most of all she enjoyed family gatherings.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, daughter Jeanne Hirth Scott, granddaughter Stephanie Schultz, sister Norma Hargis Jackson, and brothers Arthur Hargis, Wayne Hargis, and Cecil Hargis.

Nellie is survived by daughters, Jackie Hirth Pounds (Dennis), Joyce Hirth Raley (Dave), Sherree Wright , and son Joseph Hirth (Tracy); grandchildren Jan Feuquay, Mindy Schultz, Jodi Moan, Brad Pounds (Heather), Ellie Pounds, Katie Pounds (Jeff), Jamie Pounds (Travis), Seth Scott (Christy), John Scott (Julie), Cari Rohrmayer (Brandon), Haley Stewart, Lauri Mesaeh (Matt), Matt Raley, Dustin Raley, Sarah Hirth, and Gina Horsting (Greg); great-grandchildren Glenn Forsman, Garyad Passmore, John Feuquay, Grayson Richards, Hudson Rohrmayer, Jack Stewart, Vaughn Scott, Ruth Scott, Zoey Raley, Lucas Raley, Keira Mesaeh, Kylie Mesaeh, and Rosaley Horsting.

Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with a visitation Wednesday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Mattox-Wood. Memorial contributions may be made to Happiness Bag, Inc.
