Richard N. “Brownie” Brown, Sr., 80, of Terre Haute, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on July 7, 1939 in Terre Haute to Marion Francis and Dorothy Irene (Railsback) Brown. He married Dona Grayless on July 11, 1975. Dick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dona Brown of Terre Haute; sons, David Brown of Terre Haute, Mike Brown of Brazil, Tom Brown and wife Annette of Marshall, IL, and Tim Brown and wife Katie of St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Dustin Brown (Stephanie), Ethan Delp (Jenna), Lane Brown, Nathaniel Brown, Jessica Smith (Adam), and Hannah Brown; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Myrna Brown (Harold) of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman Keith Brown and Larry Brown; and two sisters, Eileen Henson and Wanda Hamilton. Dick proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1962. From 1965 to 1999 he worked at Alcan Aluminum as a laborer, retiring after 34 ½ years of service. An avid golfer, not only was he the past President of the Clinton Golf Association, but he also managed Matthews Golf Course for many years. He was a certified NRA Rifle Instructor, teaching at the Terre Haute YMCA for 22 years. For over 20 years, Dick was a member of Berean Baptist Church in North Terre Haute. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Lilly and Tim Brown officiating. Dick will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berean Baptist Church, 6770 N. Clinton Street, Terre Haute, IN 47805.
