

Richard “Dick” William Tanner, 82, of Seelyville, went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father, with his family by his side on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was born on September 3, 1930, in Kentucky to Walter and Thelma (Moffitt) Tanner. He was married to Marjorie Jeffers for 54 years and together they raised five children. Dick graduated from Sullivan High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 5 years and the Air National Guard for 30 years. He retired in 1986 as a Master Sergeant. Dick was a member of the Riley American Legion and a 50 year member of the William Penn Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marjorie Tanner of Seelyville, their children: Jim Sivertson, Lori Smith and husband Mark, all of Georgia, Bob Sivertson and wife Rita, Tim Tanner and wife Kathy, and Lynda Prouse and husband Tony, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Dustin, Christina, Jared, Siera, Ethan, Colt, Carrie, Kevin, Bobby, Frank, and Leslee; fourteen great-grandchildren, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandchildren, Shawn Robert Sivertson, and twins Amber and Andrew Hammond.
Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 2 on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Wilson officiating. Military rites will be performed.
