Robert Wayne Farr, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Union Hospital at Terre Haute with his family by his side.
Robert was born on June 26, 1928 in Terre Haute, the son of the late John and Minnie (Brewer) Farr. He proudly served our country in World War II in Europe as a Sgt. Major with the U.S. Army. Robert worked for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons as a Unit Manager, and retired after twenty six years of service from the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in Terre Haute. He greatly loved his children, grandchildren and dog, T-Rex. Robert also enjoyed woodworking, and was a frequent at the Covered Bridge Festival for some time.
He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 47 years, the former Juliette Medlin of Terre Haute; daughter, Lisa and husband Mikel St. John of Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Durham of Indianapolis, Ashley St. John of Texas and Mikel St. John, Jr. of Texas; dear friend, John Hagermier of Terre Haute, along with several in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Elaine Swart; brother, Frank Albert Farr; sister, Beatrice Josephine Brewer and Wyneta Messick, along with his infant siblings, Chester Farr and Helen Farr.
Cremation will take place with private entombment in Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories. Robert’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Royal Oaks and Union Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.
