Robert J. Taylen

Robert (Bob) Joseph Taylen, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away at Southwoods Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Center at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013. He was born on June 29, 1922 to Elizabeth Wirshing Taylen and Joseph Robert Taylen.

Robert retired from Ethyl Visqueen after 27 years of service. He later retired from Vigo County School Corporation. His service in the Army during WWII included tours in Italy, Sicily and Germany. Robert was a life time member of the VFW Post 972 and a member of the American Legion for 66 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Leona M. (Talley) Taylen, daughter Linda (Taylen) Mokrycki and her husband Michael of Bellevue Nebraska, son Joseph W. Taylen and his wife Nora Chen of Redondo Beach, California, two grandchildren, Laura (Mokrycki) Lahne and her husband Ryan of Papillion Nebraska, Joseph Mokrycki and his fiancé Emily Neve of Omaha Nebraska, and two great grandchildren Brandon and Allison Lahne.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 1:00p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Reverend Mary Slenski from Saint Stephens Episcopal Church will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Park. www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
