Ruth Marlene Mattox

Ruth Marlene Mattox, beloved mother, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Dec. 4, 1935, in Terre Haute, to Ollie and Olive (Meneely) Hayne. Ruth loved to garden and work all kinds of puzzles. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Mattox; brothers, Don Hayne and Bob Garrett; and her parents, Ollie and Olive Hayne.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Larson and husband Danny, and Cheryl Wrightsman and husband Glenn; a son, Gary Mattox and wife Brandy; five grandchildren, Glenn Wrightsman and wife Tracy, Dusty Wrightsman and wife Nina, Holly Mullen and husband Brandon, Amos “A.J” Mattox and companion Amanda, and Elizabeth Mattox and companion Daniel; great-grandchildren, Madison, Garrett, Gavin, Savanah, Eliza, Ashley and Izabell; brothers, Dick Hayne and wife Vicky, Kenny Hayne, David Hayne and wife Linda, and Marvin Hayne and wife Diane; sisters, Virginia Shake and husband Carl, and Carol Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth endured a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. It was an honor and privilege for her family to take care of her. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Ruth will be entombed in Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at:
