Ruth Martin Russell Manuel

Ruth Martin Russell Manuel, 97, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus. She was born on March 31, 1918, in Terre Haute, to the late Rufus Martin Russell and Mary Bushnell Russell.

Ruth was united in holy wedlock to the late Clyde “Babe” Manuel, Jr. on January 10, 1947. No children were born to this union, however, it seemed that all of their nieces and nephews held a special place in their hearts.

Ruth was preceded in death by her four sisters, Edna Russell Dobbins, Henna Russell Hubbard, Martha Bell Williams, and Viola Russell Manuel; and one brother, James H. Russell, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are three sister-in-laws: Florence Manuel Cooper, Mary Stewart Russell, Barbara Manuel, and a host of those special nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A wake will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at World Gospel Church, 900 Gardendale Road, Terre Haute. Ruth will be laid to rest at Stewart Lawn Cemetery (Lost Creek Cemetery).
