Shirley Joan Wey

Shirley was born April 1, 1931 to the late John and Charlotte (Morris) Short. She was the wife of Gail A.E. Wey and together they shared sixty three years of marriage. A lifelong Terre Haute resident, Shirley graduated from Gerstmeyer High School and had been employed at Packard Shirt, Schultz Department Store, Indiana State University, Canteen Vending, Vigo County Nursing Home. Shirley retired from Royal Oaks Nursing Home. She was a devoted servant of the Lord, and a faithful member of the Maplewood Christian Church.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Gail A.E. Wey; children, Shirley Gail Johnson-Williams and husband Steve of Terre Haute, Michael Wey and wife Barb of Bridgeton and Mary Burns-Verbarg and husband Scott of Indianapolis.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Lindsay Fagg and her husband, Nick, Matthew Wey, Brian Dobrowolski, Belinda Dobrowolski, Crystal Dobrowolski, Shannon Confiliano and her husband, Dan, Angie Morris and her husband, Mason, James Johnson and John Lee Burns and his wife, Sara. Shirley also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was welcomed home to heaven by her brother, Morris Short.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until Shirley’s Funeral Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute.
