

Hubert “Tom” Thomas Presnell, 73, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at his home. He was born on February 26, 1941, in Terre Haute, to Thomas Hubert and Mary Louise (Jarvis) Presnell. He married Glenda Arol Dunning on May 8, 1963.
Tom proudly served in the United States Army and retired after 25 years of service. During his time in the Army, he served in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He traveled to Korea and Germany. Tom was a member of American Legion Post 104 and VFW Post 972. He also worked for several years as security at Union Hospital.
Tom enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting. He was an avid outdoorsman. Most of all, Tom cherished the time he spent with his family and his friends.
Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Glenda Presnell of Terre Haute; children: Jacqueline Clapp, Glenda K. Wagner, Carrie Presnell Brown and partner Dana Foster, Mary Jakobs, Jay Presnell and girlfriend Teresa Benson, and Mark Presnell and girlfriend Lindsay Henry, all of Terre Haute; seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, John Presnell and wife Xiaopeng Guo, Max Presnell and wife Barbara; and a sister-in-law, Mary Presnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Larry Thomas Presnell, a daughter Dawn Cole, brother Ronald Presnell, sister Brenda Urbain, and his best friend Roy Cross.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 2 on Thursday, October 23, at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by VFW Post 972. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with Tom’s family at www.thomasfuneralhome.net
