

Virginia S. “Ginnie” Rogers, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, after celebrating Easter with her family. She was born on August 2, 1919, in Hendersonville, NC, to James G. and Laura Snowden. She grew up in Charleston, SC until she moved to Terre Haute in 1953. She was a volunteer at Regional Hospital for 28 years and a member of The Women’s Department Club. She has been an active member at St. Stephen Episcopal Church since moving to Terre Haute. Ginnie loved being with her family and friends and never met a stranger.
Preceding her in death were her husband of forty years, Dr. Robert Shirrell Rogers; brothers, James and Barnard Snowden; and a grandson, Aaron Rogers. Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Greenwell and her husband Scott, and Ann Murphy of Terre Haute; sons Robert and his wife Shelley of Indianapolis and Charles and his wife Sue of Plainfield, and Joseph and his wife Charleen of Tucson; grandchildren: Brad and Robert Greenwell; Emily Greenwell Owens; Sean, Kevin, and Becca Murphy; Matt, Ben, Laura, Brian, and Katie Rogers. In addition, she is survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be celebrated at St. Stephen Episcopal Church, 215 N. 7th Street, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April, 26. Visitation will be in the Cloister Room of the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Per Ginnie’s wishes, cremation was chosen. Private burial is scheduled at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church or Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
