Wayne C. Sherer, 86, passed away peacefully on Nov. 22, 2018. He was married for 45 years to the love of his life, Liz Sherer, and she preceded him in death. Wayne was born and lived his entire life in Terre Haute. He was a graduate of Wiley High School and Indiana University. Wayne worked at The Forrest Sherer Agency for 37 years. The company was founded by his father in 1920. He retired in 1992, as chairman of the board. Wayne was a long-time member of Kiwanis of Terre Haute, and he supported many philanthropic endeavors in the area, including The Gibault School for Boys. He is survived by his three children: daughter, Susan Vincent of Noblesville, son, Mark Sherer and his wife Amy of Dickinson, N.D., and Ann Green and her husband Ted of Pilot Point, Texas; together with nine grandchildren, Jeremy Vincent, Tyler Vincent, Benjamin Vincent, Elizabeth Vincent, Samuel Sherer, Kathleen Sherer, Jacob Sherer, Riley Green and Harrison Green; as well as one great-grandson, Caleb Haymaker. Wayne also is survived by his sister, Martha Gettinger and her husband Jack of Merom; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Hazel Holmes Sherer; and his sister, Mary Lou Lukens and her husband Art. The Sherer family would like to offer their thanks to his caregivers over the past several years, as well as Hospice of Wabash Valley, for the special care and comfort that they provided to Wayne over the past few months of his life. Funeral services will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018. Tim Jarvis, Certified Lay Pastor, will be the Officiant. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at noon. Wayne will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, Wayne's family requests that donations be made to The Gibault School for Boys, Hospice of Wabash Valley, or the charity of your choice.
