

William Bruce Hansen, 54, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2015, in his residence, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to William P. Hansen and Katherine Hansen, both deceased. He graduated from Carmel High School in 1979 and Indiana State University in 1983. While at ISU, Bill was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Bill obtained a Master’s Degree from Liberty University, and also completed post graduate work at Walden University and Rutgers University. Bill was a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana and Illinois, and spent 23 years working as a mental health therapist.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Julie McCullough Hansen; a sister, Barbara Harrison and her children, Andrea Harrison and Ryan Harrison (deceased) of Jupiter, Florida; a brother, Ted Hansen, of Atlanta, Georgia; mother and father-in-law, Jan and Jim Smith, of Terre Haute; sisters-in-law, Diane Lowery and Debbie Matherly (Steve); and a brother-in-law, Tom McCullough, all of Terre Haute. And was preceded in death by an additional brother-in-law, Steve McCullough. He is also survived by several special nieces.
Bill was a man of faith and he loved God. He and his wife, Julie, spent 15 years in South Florida doing ministry work. He was ordained as a minister in 1997 and worked at Faith Tabernacle Ministries for several years while living in Florida. While at this ministry he wrote two books, “Identity in Christ” and “Dealing with Dysfunction”. His greatest joys were in helping others and he dedicated his life to that goal. He was also an avid sportsman. Hobbies included physical fitness, long distance cycling, weight lifting, golf, fishing and sport shooting. Bill was also an animal lover and is survived by five beloved pets: Storm, Zane, Sissy, Skee and Itty Bitt who will miss him greatly.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 North Clinton Street, Terre Haute, Indiana with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Reverend Duane Caperton will officiate. There will be a reception for family and friends immediately following services at Prairieton United Methodist Church, 3720 West Kennett Drive, Terre Haute, Indiana 47802. In lieu of traditional flowers, the family is requesting mums, wind chimes, and memorial stones.
