

William Hubert Rollings, 87, of Rosedale, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Clinton Gardens. He was born on June 13, 1930, in Chicago to Ernest H. Rollings and Esther (Dillon) Hughes. He married Josefine A. Pleckinger in May 1955.
William is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josefine A. Rollings; children, Richard Rollings and wife Barbara of Indianapolis, Irene Balding and husband Kenny of Rosedale, and Lois Garwood and husband Dave of West Terre Haute; thirteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Willliam H. Rollings II; grandson, Brian Rollings; granddaughter, Angie Darnell; and a brother, Jack Rollings.
William retired after 22 years of service in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He worked at Alcan as a supervisor for 18 years, retiring in 1986. William was an avid woodworker and loved to build things. He enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard, mowing, and gardening. He loved animals.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home. William will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 104. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clinton Gardens.
