It was sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Wetzel.  I know that he was a blessing to all who knew him.  Mrs. Wetzel, you will be with him again someday in that CITY described in the Book of Revelation.

I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Wetzel.  He was a great teacher and friend.  My prayers are with you.  I was a student at Malakoff High School.    Joel Rogers, Mesquite,Tx.

Truly sad for your loss, Mrs. Wetzel, but at the same time joyous that Mr. Wetzel is now singing in the heavans and dancing on streets of gold!  Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.  We spent many, many hours with both Mr. and Mrs. Wetzel, what between Malakoff High School band activities, those at First Baptist Church, Malakoff, and the visitation times when one or both of them would be with a group of our parent's friends.  I know my mother misses all of that, and especially their annual "January Anniversary Group" parties.

I have such fond memories of Mr. Wetzel teaching the Jr. High at Malakoff how to play their instruments, and then allowing us to be a part of the Senior High Band. What a thrill,l even when I was on crutches. I also remember him leading music at 1st Baptist in Malakoff. He and Mrs. Wetzel always gave their best to teach the youth where ever they were.

My deepest sympathy to Frances and other members of Mr. Wetzel's family.  Charles was our band director at Malakoff High School for many years and he was an excellent band director.  He cared for each of his students and worked with them to do their very best.  Many thanks for his dedication to our band and for making all of us proud when we got out on the field for our performances.  He will be greatly missed by all those students he taught in Malakoff for sure.  I pray for Mrs. Wetzel as I know she will be lost without Charles. I'm so very sorry for the loss of Charles Wetzel. Frances, I am praying for your comfort during this time.

Probably more than anyone, Mr. Wetzel promoted confidence in my life.  When he sent me with the band to an endzone at halftime, he told me, "They belong to you now."  I felt responsibility for 50 or so more lives for those few minutes.  His patience with a room full of kids was amazing.  Though I've seen him little in my adult life, he's stayed in my heart and mind.  I'm so sorry for your loss, Mrs. Wetzel.  God bless you.

Mr. Wetzel was my choir teacher 1967-68.  I think of him,trying to get a bunch of unruly 7th graders to sing in tune every time I hear "The Sound of Music."  And, as a fellow veteran, I thank Mr. Wetzel for his military service.  Sing with the angels, Sir.

Charles was a truly kind man! I enjoyed singing in the choir with him at FBC Terrell! He also had a wry sense of humor. I will miss him!

Mr. Wetzel was my junior high band director in Terrell during the early 1970s. I'll always remember his enduring patience and his love for music which he tried to pass on to his students. So sad to learn of his passing

Frances, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr. Wetzel was our band director at Quitman High School thru my Junior year and was a great influence on my desire to play as well as possible and then continue while at Baylor University, playing trumpet in the Baylor Band under Donald I. Moore.  I have been and will continue to pray for Mrs. Wetzel during this time.  Just recently on his 94th birthday, Ulna Cathey McWhorter, Lucy Goolsby Carr and I were privileged to be with the Wetzel's to celebrate with them.  It was a good time and a time that three Quitman Bulldog Band Members will always cherish.

He was the high school choir director in 1966, I loved his class.

How fitting that he went to be with Jesus on our day of worship. I wonder if he was in the choir or in the band!?  Perhaps he was leading a band!

He was my middle school band teacher and I really didn't care for his style at the time. It was only later, as I matured, that I understood what he was trying to accomplish. Mr. Wetzel, I appreciate what you did to further my music knowledge. Looking back, I don't know where I';d be today without the guidance given to me by you and Mr. Robert Snyder.
