

David Franklin Bryant, age 84, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 07, 2015 at his home in Terrell. Born September 12, 1931, David was the youngest son of the late H.P. and Lela C. Bryant of Terrell. He attended Terrell Schools and later graduated with a technical certificate from Terrell High School. Bryant was married to the late Jean Brennan Bryant in 1950, that 52 year union is survived by their daughters, Kay Bryant Martin and Lori Bryant Michlitsch. Bryant served in the United States Army and was deployed stateside during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954 where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. After an honorable discharge in 1960, Bryant returned to Kaufman County and to his job as a stock clerk with Safeway Food Stores. He quickly rose through the ranks of the grocery business finally retiring as a Store Manager in 1987 after 36 years with Safeway. In 1987, he opened Bryant’s Service where he provided lawn mower and other small engine repair to a host of loyal clients and customers for 15 years. Bryant was a member of Bloomfield Masonic Lodge in Kaufman for 56 years, where he was a member of the Hella Shrine and Scottish Rite. Fortunate enough to find love twice, he has been married to his childhood friend, Bettye Mulliniks Bryant since 2007. She is left to cherish his memory with his children, Kay Bryant Martin of Terrell and Lori and Terry Michlitsch of Plano. He was adored by his grandchildren Chris Martin of Terrell, Beth & Dustin Martin of Memphis, TN, Courtney & Bryant Martin of Kaufman, Lauren Michlitsch of Kansas City, MO and Haley Michlitsch of Lexington, KY. He is also survived by his baby sister, Martha Phillips of Terrell and his older brother, James Bryant of Terrell along with lots of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and friends. The family will host a visitation at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Chapel in Terrell on Monday, November 9, 2015 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, November 10, 2015 with interment following at the Elmo Cemetery. The family requests that all memorials be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children’s Tony Herring, M.D. Fund or the Terrell Animal Shelter.
