

Derlene Plesant McTee Keys, loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many, went to be with her Lord Wednesday June 3, 2015. Derlene was born on August 7, 1929, to Louis G. McTee and Essie Evans McTee in Blue Ridge, Texas. After attending school at Blue Ridge, she graduated from Neilson Beauty College in 1945. She met James Keys, and thirty days later they were married on January 12, 1946. They were married for fifty years and raised two children, Debbie and Philip. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She moved to Poetry in 1954 and operated a beauty shop at her home in Poetry beginning in 1960. Her customers became friends for life. She was a charter member of Faith Temple Baptist Church where she served at different times as a Sunday School teacher, church clerk, Vacation Bible School teacher and the position she most treasured was taking care of the babies and little ones in the nursery. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Rachel Cummings, and two brothers, Walter Lee McTee and Johnnie McTee. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Keys of Rowlett; son Philip and wife Lynn Keys of Union Valley; grandsons Mitch Keys and wife Kristi; Brent Keys and Trevor Keys all of Terrell; step granddaughter Lauren Martinez and husband Saab of Tomball; two great granddaughters; a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family. Funeral service for Mrs. Keys will be at 10:00am, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Faith Temple Baptist Church , 11214 FM 1565, Terrell, 75160 with interment to follow at Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9pm, Friday, June 5, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home.
