Mrs. JoAnn Small

JoAnn Small, 73, passed away September 7, 2015. She was born January 21, 1942 to Lawrence Rayborne and Ethel Jane Thorn in Terrell, TX. JoAnn enjoyed frequenting yard sales, antique and jewelry shops. Her favorite event was the occasional visit to casinos where she loved to play slot machines for hours and hours. When she was home she spent time putting together puzzles and watching “Wheel of Fortune” and other TV shows. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends eating fried catfish, cooking a favorite dish, or just visiting when the family and friends would do a cookout. Bunny Toes, her favorite dog, would always sit underneath her chair—waiting for a puzzle piece to fall or perhaps a scrap of food. JoAnn loved the family holiday gatherings and also enjoyed Halloween night. She would dress in a ghoulish outfit and pass candy out to kids. Grandma Small was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Conlin Ray Small; parents Lawrence and Ethel Thorn; grandparents; brothers Red Thorn and Johnny Thorn. Those left to cherish her memory are: children Monte Small, Kim Small, Randy Small and wife Linda, Tim Small and wife Shirley, and Kristi Small; grandchildren Jennifer Small Evans and husband Paul, Blake Small and wife Ashley and Conlin Small; great-grandchildren Ethan Evans, Evan Evans, Andy Evans, Brayden Small, Nash Small and Molly Small and also Libby and Maya Richardson; brothers Rayburn Thorn and wife Sallie and Tracy Thorn and her very special Aunt Ollie Lawson; special friends of the family Sue Holt, Betty Green, and Renee Thilman; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family who will miss JoAnn dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Anderson-Clayton Bros. chapel on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Morrow-Chapel Cemetery in Ola, TX.
