
Phil Collins of Terrell passed away November 27, 2014. Phil was born February 28, 1962 in Euclid, Ohio to Philip Gerard and Catherine Hosper Collins and he graduated from Mentor High School after which he entered the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for 8 years. He then enlisted in the National Guard where he served from 1988 to 1994. Phil taught Automotive Technology at Wills Point High School and was as an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Phil devoted his life to helping the youth of our community become young men and women of outstanding morals, principles and standards. His leadership was well known and Phil was a member of the Marine Corps League in Terrell, Platoon Commander Trinity Valley Young Marines, and first commanding officer Kaufman County Young Marines. Likewise, he volunteered for the Wounded Warrior Project and volunteered for American Red Cross of Terrell. He was preceded in death by his father Philip Gerard Collins and his brother Shawn Collins. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Rhonda Collins of Terrell, children Melissa Collins of Redmond, Oregon and Blake Collins of Hemet, Calf., granddaughter Isabella Collins, brother Danny Collins of Melbourne, Fla., sister Kelly Davis and her husband Curt of Hollywood, Fla. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Oak Grove Baptist Church of Elmo with Rev. Paul Simpson officiating. Interment will be at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas on Monday. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 5, at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Marine Corps League of Terrell.
