
Sallie Jo Morris, formerly Sallie Jo Smith, of Poetry, TX, passed away on July 24, 2015 at the age of 76. Sallie was born on January 4, 1939 to Clarence and Ollie Smith of Poetry Texas. Sallie was a great Mom, Sister and Granny. Sallie loved her family and worked very hard at raising four kids on her own. In her younger years she enjoyed riding horses and belonged to a riding club. She also spent time crocheting, reading, bird watching and taking care of her cats. Sallie attended Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served in children’s ministry as a Sunday school teacher. Sallie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ollie Smith, and her sister Zoelemma Whitaker. Those left to cherish her memory are: Sisters Dorothy Futch, Fannie Smith and Ruth Benton; Daughter Pamela Whitaker-Knight and husband Cliff; Sons Randy Whitaker and wife Kim, Richard Whitaker and wife Virginia Graham, and Charles Whitaker and wife Margaret. Grandchildren Jamie Whitaker-Guggisberg and husband Scott, Ryan Whitaker and wife Laura, Lenee Whitaker-Davila and husband Marco, Stephanie Knight, Ty Whitaker, Andrew Carodine and Victoria Carodine Great grandchildren Angeline Whitaker and Becca Whitaker; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers the family has requested to make a donation in Sallie’s memory to: St. Timothy Christian Academy (a Christian school for children with learning differences): 1501 Avenue H Plano, TX 75074.
