A. P. Cox Jr.

Mr. Cox was born and raised in Texarkana, where he attended and graduated from Arkansas High. He went on to college and graduated from the University of Arkansas. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard. He was a Farmer who owned and operated an agricultural and dairy farm for over 50 years in Miller County. He served on the Texarkana District 7 School Board, led a Boy Scout Troop, sponsored a Little League baseball team, and supported the Homan 4H Club. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Arkansas. He was married to his wife, Shirley, for 64 years before her death in 2024.

Survivors include his son (Alwin) Porter Cox III of Texarkana, Arkansas; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Dr. Annette Cox of Richardson, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Shana and Dr. Dan Martin of Texarkana, Arkansas; and a brother, James Cox of Texarkana, Arkansas.

Also left to cherish his memory are his three beloved grandchildren: Emily Martin, Christopher Martin and Jacob Martin.

Visitation will be at East Funeral Home-Downtown Sunday Feb 15, from 4-6 pm.

There will be a graveside service at Memorial Gardens on Hwy 67 N on Monday Feb 16 at 11:00 am.

Memorials may be made in his memory to First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Arkansas.
