Aunt Alene loved good music.  She loved good gospel music the most. She took me to piano lessons many times. She was always encouraging, even when it was Mary had a little lamb, she would say oh that was great!
So many memories of singing and playing gospel music with our family in our little church. She loved to come out and listen to me and Daddy play. Dance a waltz with Til, and just enjoy herself and her time with her family.  The last time I saw her she said, whatever you go through in life from here on out, remember, your Aunt Alene loves you and you can get through anything, I'll be right behind ya. Then kissed my forehead and hugged me. I will be forever grateful for the angel God let us borrow.

I got to share time with this beautiful woman and I love her dearly I'm going to miss you sweet lady.. what a nice friend I have, now I don't know what I'm going to do with all your flowers

It’s hard to imagine a world without my Nanny in it. One story has been told to me for as along as I can remember. Nanny would say -Your momma had you right after she had Shaila and she had to go to work. She went back to work shortly after she had you and you were tiny. She brought you to me early in the morning and I looked at you and said “they may not want you here, but you’re here and you’re going to stay right here with me”. She took care of me for as long as I can remember. I remember being at the house on Cleveland street and how pretty her yard always was. She watered her plants every morning and night. I remember popsicles in the deep freezer and peddling on Saturdays. I remember playing in the yard and her tapping on the window when we were getting too rough or doing something we shouldn’t be doing. As an adult, I grown to respect her in a different way. She talked to me about the struggles of life and prayed for me when I was having a hard time. Some of my best memories were living next door to her when my babies were small. We ate many meals together and visited in the afternoons. I loved listening to her tell me stories and talk to me about her life. I loved laughing with her and holding her hands. I sometimes just long for a nap on her couch. The truth is, she was such a huge part of my life that these words and pictures don’t even begin to describe the impact she had on my life as a child and as a woman. I have been abundantly blessed to have her all these years. I thank God that she always encouraged me to seek the Lord in my troubles and to teach my kids about Jesus. She told me a few weeks ago that she loved the Lord and that she was ready to be in heaven. Even in our last moments together, she asked me if I knew the Lord and to make sure I would see her there one day. She is alive and living. I sure will miss her here. Until I see you there, I love you my beautiful Nanny!

Hank and Virginia got to eat catfish with Alene and Tilt last July on Alene’s birthday. She always liked catfish.

Nanny meant everything to me. From the first days of my life until the last of hers she was there … holding my hand, kissing my cheeks, pouring her love out to me, and being the best example of what a woman should be. She taught me the value of family. She did more than just talk about loving family; she showed me what actively loving your people looked like. She put family first every single day of her life. She was an example to us all on how to show up for and love others. The example she set, the lessons she taught, and the words of wisdom she freely gave are worth more than anything else in the world to me. 
I have never ever wondered if she loved me. I have never ever wondered if she added me to her prayers. I have never ever wondered if she cared about me. I’ve always known for a fact those things were constant and she made sure of it. I have been and will continue to be blessed by her unconditional love. Her quiet strength, endless grace, and spirit of forgiveness are my inspiration. 
I’m everything I am because she loved me.

Nanny, daddy, me, my son Jake, and my grandson, Greyson. When I was a kid, I loved going to Nanny’s house. I’m sure that Terrye, Laura, Ramonda, & Charlene got tired of me but I truly looked up to all of them & any time that I got to spend with them. I loved going into nanny’s shop with her. She would let me pick out anything that I wanted to paint. I love you nanny.

How do you let an angel fly home when you walked with  them so close on earth? Perhaps Is it like caring for a caterpillar till it turns into a big bright beautiful butterfly. And you see its spirt fly and soar so high. So radiant and majestic like the heavens above. They flutter in and out of your sight but always leaving a kindred aura of peace and calmness in your soul. Sometimes you have to be still and watch and learn from them. My Precious , Precious lovable 
Aunt was like that to me. She taught me about love and life. Taught me about our gracious Father, and how I could spend eternity with him. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to make  any person feel special. Our distance never kept us apart. 
Like the butterflies, they will always appear during your darkest hour. And stay till your soul was calm. Her prayers saved me in so many ways that only God knows. The mention of her name always made my soul feel at peace, and everything would be ok. 
I will never forget you and I know you are waiting on the rest of our family to close that circle. I will always remember the wise words you shared with me. So when God sends his angels for me I will  gracefully take their hand. Not goodbye Aunt Alene, but I will see you later. In Gods time. I love you!

Im lost for words here Aunt Alene, you were the best Aunt a person could have.  im so bless you were in my life my whole life my kids & their kids lives ❤️  you made sure I was in church and knew the lord. You took me just about everywhere you took ur family.   ,I just cant think or thank you enough for sharing ur huge heart with me ..  I couldnt imagine where id be without you!  Im going to miss you so darn much. One day ill be seeing you again 🙏 love always 💗

Aunt Alene took in all nieces & nephews along with her own children. Taking us to church every time the door was opened. Listened to us, gave advice & corrected us when we needed it. She will be greatly missed on earth but we have the promise of meeting with her again in the presence of our Lord and Savior. It’s not goodbye but see you later.
