Don and I went through school from first grade until graduation from college. He was always the same honest, dependable person throughout the years. Don was a person of faith. He didn't so much talk about it, he lived it. The best day of bass fishing I can remember was with Don on Glass Club Lake.  After playing poker together for 20-25 years  we got to know each other pretty well. He will be greatly missed.

As a childhood friend of Susan's, I spent a lot of time in the William's home. The love between their parents was remarkable. The legacy continues with the close relationship between the siblings and family. Treasure the  memories he left you. Thinking of you and your family as you celebrate Don's life.

Don was a great guy.  I stopped by Collins and Williams numerous times when I was in Texarkana and Don was always so attentive.  My very best wishes to the Williams family.

Don was my favorite at Collin’s & Williams, and took care of all of my purchases from the first day we met.   He had impeccable taste and I always looked to him for his opinion when making selections for my husband and son.   Don was the best!  

May the love of family and friends comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead.

Mary Banks and I were deeply saddened to learn of Don's passing since he was such a vibrant person; however, he faced an implacable enemy in the nature of his illness.  I have known him since the first grade.  We both went through first grade to graduating with BBAs from the University of North Texas together.  Don became one of Texarkana's most reliable and respected businessmen and a faithful husband to his wife, Jean.  He always reflected well on his family and friends.  I counted his personal search for Tommy Howie's body after Tommy was killed by quicksand along the Red River as a personal act of heroism by Don.  We were in Boy Scouts together and lived in the same apartment house our first year away at college at UNT, fka North Texas State University in Denton.  I still have a suit and sport coat I wear that was tailored personally by Don.  Last time I saw him, he came to our joint 66ers and Posse Luncheon at a popular fish restaurant at Lake Fork, about half-way between Dallas and Texarkana where he had rented a cabin and had been fishing for a week at Lake Fork, the Bass Capital of the World.  Don made it a point to enjoy life and help others to enjoy it.  His spirit among us will be missed deeply.  We mourn with his family.  It was certainly a blessing to know him. Blessings upon Jean and his family in their bereavement at this time.

My favorite memory of Uncle Don! Sibling reunion 2014, when my elders agreed to a backpacking trip in the Ozark Mountains! Uncle Don rocked his childhood Boy Scout canteen.  We were all in for a little bit more adventure than we expected. Uncle Don was so tough! I will miss having Don there for the next Williams rummy tournament. So thankful for everything he has passed down to the next generation. Love you uncle Don!

My Uncle Don and his siblings were inspired to try backpacking by my sister Julie's cross country hikes. At one river crossing, I saw Uncle Don cross over a fallen tree like a balance beam. His polished boots never got wet.

Don was a delightful classmate and friend and will be missed.  He had a happy smile and was always fun.  We were all blessed to have known Don.  Prayers for comfort and strength to his family.

These are some of my first thoughts when thinking of my Uncle Don.  

Man, was he an avid fisherman. He and my Pappaw (his Dad) caught the biggest fish I have ever seen.  

Some times he was cranky about it, but he spent hours pulling us in circles around Glass Club Lake on skis and tubes. 

On Thanksgiving night we would head up to Collins and Williams and my Dad would get clothes.  As a child I was so amazed that people could get this kind of attention and service.  A personalized shopping trip!  So fancy.  And, LOVE the photo the family picked for this. 

I’m still in awe of his tool shed.  I was only in there a couple of times but the pegboard was pristine and included outlines were each tool went.  That’s random I know. 

I love you Uncle Don and know you are up there catching the biggest fish you’ve ever seen.  Big hugs.
