

Dorothy Rita Kegley, born December 14, 1930 in Wilkes Barre, PA, age 91 passed away Monday, February 7, 2022. She was a member of St. Mary of the Cenacle Catholic Church, New Boston, Texas for 52 years where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir leader, and sacristan. She graduated from Plains High School in Wilkes Barre, PA. She joined the Women's Army Corp in 1949 where she met the love of her life, Howard Kegley. They married in Fort Knox, KY in 1952 and were married for 58 years. She was the ideal soldier's wife. She supported her husband through his deployments to Korea and Vietnam, and she tirelessly packed up and moved their family where the Army sent them. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard Kegley, her parents Joseph and Josephine Pistack, her brother Edward Pistack, and her grandson Jarrett Halfmann. She is survived by 2 daughters and son-in-laws, Barbara and Bill Ratcliff of Magnolia, TX; Patsy and Monte Rowe of Corpus Christi, TX; one son David Kegley of Grand Saline, TX. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Lindsey and Russell Halfmann & Jarrett and Cullen; Erin and Justin Steward & Raelyn; Matthew Rowe & Keegan and Avery; Whitney and Justin Wright & Tristan; Heidi and Phillip Pacquette & Cohen, Anna Belle, and PJ; Ashley and Sean Whitehead & Ava and Landrey; Nicholas and Christen Kegley & Hudson; and Zachary Kegley. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Cenacle Catholic Church, New Boston, TX with Rev. Lawrence Chellaian officiating and under the direction of East Funeral Home, Moores Lane. Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM Thursday, February 10 at East Funeral Home, Moores Lane with visitation to follow. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Holy Cross Cemetery, Texarkana, TX.
