

Eddie Guy Reed Jr., 89 of Texarkana, AR passed away June 22, 2025 at Hospice of Texarkana. Mr. Reed was born in Prescott, AR on August 3, 1935 to Eady Guy Reed Sr. and Inez Almon Reed. He married the love of his life, Blanche Hay Reed, on October 26, 1957. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a proud member of the USAF from 1956 to 1960 where he dealt with special weapons including hydrogen bombs. He made sure all mechanical and electrical systems on planes were working properly. He also made sure the egress systems were in working order in case a pilot needed to eject. His favorite times were when he flew as the second front seat person in the F100 jets. He graduated from Arkansas High and attended many college courses at Texarkana College. After working for Jake Williams Furniture Store, he became a local business owner when he started Reed’s Furniture and Appliances on Main Street in Texarkana in the 1970’s. His business evolved from not only repairing appliances but also repairing and installing HVAC systems. He then relocated his business to College Hill. Reed’s Appliance and HVAC repair will continue to service the Texarkana area under his son Robert Reed. Eddie was known as a hard-working family man who could fix ANYTHING. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and going to the “boats”.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Blanche, his parents, and his brother, Jimmy O. Reed; He is survived by his six children and their spouses: Janet and Vito Daddato, Ricky and Josana Reed, Jody and Paula Reed, Ronnie and Alicia Reed, John and Suzy Reed, and Robert Reed and his fiancée Jill Hugg; his sister Brenda McDowell; 11 brother and sister in-laws; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Edward Building Fund, Hospice of Texarkana, or Wounded Warriors.
Rosary will be 6pm Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at East Funeral Home-Downtown with visitation to follow.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at St Edward Catholic Church with Rev. William Burmester officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
