

Frances Florrow Erwin passed peacefully from this life on Monday, April 30, 2012, with her loving husband at her side. Born December 7, 1918 in New Madrid, MO. Frances was the youngest girl of 12 children. Her family settled in Pasadena, Texas in the early 1920’s.
After graduating from Pasadena High School, she enrolled in the Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital Diploma Nursing Program and graduated in the top 5 of her class in 1944.
She married her lifelong mate, Paul Frederick Erwin, on May 14, 1945, and moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, where she enjoyed her new life of marriage, rearing two sons and continuing a career as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1967. The couple eventually relocated to Texarkana, Arkansas in 1979.
Her sons recall her strong faith in God, pleasure in family, love of cooking and passion for sewing. She will be remembered for her intricate crochet and needlework, handmade quilts and her famous teacakes, which could always be found in Grandma’s cookie jar.
In May 2011, Frances and her husband moved to Russellville, Arkansas, where she was under the care of the compassionate staff of Legacy Heights Nursing and Rehab Center and Arkansas Hospice.
She is survived by her husband, Paul F. Erwin of Russellville; son Don Erwin and wife Jacqueline of Russellville; son Artie Erwin and wife Yvonne of Little Rock; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at East Memorial Gardens, Texarkana, AR, officiated by Rev. Don Erwin and Bill Dempsey. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at East Funeral Home on Moores Lane. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Domestic Violence Prevention, Inc., P. O.
