He was an awesome principal and will be missed greatly.

George, you and Shirley were two of my favorite people.  Loved working with you. You were always supportive of the teachers, fair with the students, and a great friend after hours. You will be missed.

Kim, so sorry for your lost. Your father took care of me at Pine Street and I respected and trusted him so much. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Mr Kirtley was a great man. I am glad that I got to know him when I was in Texas High 25 years agp or so. I know I will see him in heaven. Will be praying for his family and friends.

George Kirtley had a tremendous influence on my life as an educator.  He was a principal at both Pine Street and THS while I was there, where he helped me to find ways to engage students.  He spoke to my U.S. History classes about his experiences as a National Guardsman on duty guarding the Little Rock Nine during the integration of Little Rock Central.  He knew students and their families like no other!  I loved and admired him so much.  TISD and Texarkana are poorer without George Kirtley.  My prayers are with the family.

Our thoughts are with you Kim and the rest of the family.  Mr. Kirtley was one of my favorite educators.

God be with Kim and the rest of Mr. Kirtley's loved ones. May all of the love and shared memories from all of us he touched over the years bring you comfort. Mr. Kirtley was my principal at Pine Street. I remember him standing in the hallway calmly reminding us that the bell was about to ring and to "get to class".

Mr. Kirtley was a great educator and christian. He cared for so many and gave so much to help others.

Coach Kirtley was one of my favorites when I attended THigh!  Got to be around him when he was a sub later. He was still the kind smiling person and I enjoyed him. My prayers for the family.

It was great working with George but being best friends was a wonderful privilege. I gained much wisdom, compassion and patience from George and my life is all the better in knowing him for so many years.  My family in East Texas loved George like a sibling. We shared many gatherings together and had lots of fun.  I will really miss my friend George.  We wish to extend our condolence to all his family and we wish you love and peace.  God Bless.

I extend my deepest sympathy to Mr. Kirtley's family.  I admired, appreciated and loved Mr Kirtley.

Mr. Kirtley was such a nice man and such a wonderful principal. He was always so kind and fair and he always had such a caring demeanor and a positive word of encouragement to share with me every time I saw him at Texas High on my way to class. He will truly be missed and I am so sorry for your loss.

George was one of my favorite friends when I worked at TISD, I know he will be missed by his many friends and family.

George came to East Texas many times with my brother, Ray Mena.  They were best friends and my family came to love George as family.  He was so interesting to talk with.  My condolences to his family.  You will be in my prayers. God Bless.

What a great man.  He has meant so much to me throughout my education career.  It was always a joy to be around him.  So sorry for your loss

George Kirtley was a gentle giant in my life. He was the first principal I worked for. He and his first wife Shirley took me under their wing and treated me like family and taught me so so much. I loved him dearly and he will be greatly missed. So glad he was a part of my life.

     It is said that when an old man dies, a library burns.  George Kirtley was a man filled with the great stories and lessons of history; his own and those of his country.  He was kind and  wise, and I am a better person for having known him.
