H. Gordon Allen was born April 4, 1949 and left this Earth too soon on the evening of December 7, 2014. He grew up in the small rural town of Ravanna, Arkansas where his parents raised him to become a loving, caring, and wonderfully giving Christian man. He was blessed early with his most precious gift, Rhonda Allen and they spent 38 years together loving, taking care of each other and standing side by side through all the blessings and hardships of life. Gordon received a bachelor’s degree and an MBA in finance from Texas A&M-Commerce and was recently honored with the prestigious “Distinguished Alumni Award.” He held several positions at GTE Corporation where he initially marketed voice mail and as President of GTE Cardservices, his highly successful implementation of calling card technology and marketing allowed him to retire and spend more time with his family and friends at the age of 50. Gordon was active at First Baptist Church Moores Lane and has found many friends there. Gordon was a jokester and his quick wit and ability to bring a room to roars of laughter will be missed by all. Even though he loved to entertain, his humble heart hid his passion for helping family, friends and strangers both publicly and privately. He loved to play golf, travel, and was always busy with a project or giving from his unselfish heart. His parents, Harold and Bonnie Allen, and sister, Carole Hughes, and her husband, Reverend James Hughes, still live in Ravanna where they will cherish Gordon’s faithful and humble memory. He has left behind two sons, Rick and Andy Allen, and a daughter and her husband, Christopher and Jessica Jeffers, who all loved him dearly and will treasure the lessons, loves, and laughs their father has brought them. Gordon loved children and he was fortunate to be a proud grandfather of Hayley Allen, Blake Allen, Tyler Allen, Drew Mason, Alexis Allen, Alice Jeffers and Nolan Jeffers and great-grandfather to Harrison Prudhomme. His time was also cut short with his brotherly cousin Robin Beck, with whom he shared a lifetime of countless adventures, and many other Allens, Becks, family members and friends.
