Harvey Gerald Martin, 80, of Texarkana, TX passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at his home. Harvey was born October 19, 1938 in Bowie County to Wadie and Thomas Martin. Graduated from Arkansas High School in 1957. Attended North Texas State University where he met and married Patricia Gassett. He and Patricia raised their three children, Terry, Mark and Kelly in various parts of Texas and Colorado, for 21 years together.
He worked in the insurance industry for many years and later transitioned into the title business. He relocated back to his hometown of Texarkana and began working in the funeral home industry. He continued to work at East Funeral Home until his death. He took great pride in his job and enjoyed sharing his compassion with others in their time of need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nell (& Tom) Arnold, brother Billy (& Ruth) Martin and sister-in-law Gail Martin.
He is survived by his brother Richard Martin of Texarkana, TX, his son Terry (& Amanda) Martin of College Station, son Mark Martin of Dallas, and daughter Kelly Martin of Wylie. Grandchildren are Heather Martin, Suzanne Martin, Stephanie Martin, Christopher Herrell, Chandler Martin, Dylan Martin, Megan Jenkins and Mackenzie Martin. Great-grandchildren are Sebastian Vilson, Katherine Coleman and soon-to-be Brooks Herrell. He is also survived by Sue Price of Texarkana, who was a very special friend and close companion.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 10:00am, at East Funeral Home-Downtown. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jessie Haynes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Texarkana SPCA or the charity of your choice.
