Herbert Jefferson Clark

Herbert was born June 19th, 1930 in Prescott, Arkansas. He was a member of Redwater First Baptist Church where he was a member for many years and retired from Brown and Miller Pickle Plant. Herb loved fishing, camping, woodworking and gardening. He deeply loved his church and family. He was a humble servant of the Lord.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years Sue; his three children, Denise Clark Kaniss, Lisa Clark Underwood and husband Leo, Jeff Clark and wife Lora and his children's mother, Ruth Strube. Three grandchildren, Jillian Kaniss, CPT Leonard (Tres) Underwood III and wife Alayna, Libby Underwood Smith and husband Dillon.

Also left to cherish his memory are his stepdaughters; Pam and husband Jesse Kirby, Sherry Melton, and step granddaughter Lacey Melton Shirley and husband Matt Shirley as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers, a son-in-law 1SG Paul Kaniss Jr., and a stepson Charles Melton and step grandchildren Stephanie, Kim and Matthew Kirby.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 at East Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel with Rev. Todd Reed officiating and Rev. Mike Powell.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rufus Clark, Randy Pipes, Jerry Beck, Terry Flanery, Sonny Simmons, Mike Hart and Vernon Creed.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be given to First Baptist Church Redwater, Texas.
