Jewel Elizabeth LeGrand

Jewel Elizabeth LeGrand, age 79, of Wake Village, TX, passed away Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023, at Hospice of Texarkana. Jewel was born in Texarkana, AR, in 1943 and a graduate of Sacred Heart High School.

Jewel was a dedicated St. Edwards Catholic Church parishioner and served her church and community in many ways. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed being with family and was often seen weeding her lawn by hand. Julius and Jewel were known for their open hearts and open home. Often their house was the gathering place for those looking for laughter, acceptance, and love. We say goodbye to the tactuality of a home and mother, but not the memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Clara Allen; husband, Julius LeGrand; one brother, Phil Allen; one sister, Crista Ann; and a daughter, Jennifer LeGrand Dusek.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Sister Katrina LeGrand, CCVI; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Wendy LeGrand and Jerome and Angel LeGrand; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica and David Sturlic and Jane and James Maginot; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Dusek, Andrew LeGrand, Katie Dusek, Caleb LeGrand, Justin LeGrand, Laney Sturlic, Austin Sturlic, Seamus Maginot, and Patrick Maginot; and one great-granddaughter, Hadley LeGrand.

Rosary is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 6:00pm at East Funeral Home-Downtown with a visitation to follow.

Mass will be Friday, June 30, 2023, at St. Edwards Catholic Church at 12:00 Noon with Father William Burmester officiating.

A private burial will be scheduled for a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Edward’s Outreach Center at St. Edwards Catholic Church or Hospice of Texarkana.
