Joe Henry Hunt

Mr. Hunt was a Vietnam veteran serving as PFC in the Marine Corps from 1967 to 1968 with the 3rd Battalion earning his Rifle Marksman Badge, National Defense Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with Honors. Mr. Hunt was also a member of the American Legion.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clayde Hunt and mother and stepfather, Mattie L. Baker and Avery Baker, one sister, Lee Ellen Hunt, one nephew, Mitchell K. Olguin and brother-in-law, Joe Olguin.

Survivors include one daughter, Christy Hunt Mehrer and husband, Jason; granddaughters, Brittany Anderson and her husband, Bruce and Morgan Mehrer; great grandchildren, Gage Lee Anderson and McKinley Leigh Brown; one sister, Goldie N. Olguin; niece, Debra Olguin Murphree and husband, Guy; great niece, Autum Olguin Stuart and her husband, Jarrett; and his beloved dog, Lulu.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Rock Springs Cemetery with Brother David Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of East Funeral Home – Downtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans Foundation or the Texarkana Animal Shelter.
