life, well lived. John Paulson Rothwell (Jack) was born in Columbus Montana
5/29/1929 to Craig and Anne Rothwell. Jack is survived by; his wife Eileen F.
Rothwell of Texarkana Texas; son Craig Rothwell & wife Nancy of Fort Worth Texas;
two daughters; Nanette Grass of Albuquerque New Mexico; Renee’ Kasberger &
husband Ron of Bakersfield California; six grandchildren & three great
grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sister Harriet & son
Richard Rothwell.
Growing up, Jack excelled in athletics, lettering in Football, Basketball & Track
throughout his high school years in Billings Montana. He went on to play football
for University of Montana at Missoula while pursuing his education. It is here, in
college, where he met & married his wife, then Eileen F. Nickle, originally of
Ironwood Michigan. Jack & Eileen were married August 21,1951. Upon college
graduation, Jack entered the US Army in 1952, serving in Korea, achieving the rank
of 2nd Lieutenant until released from active duty in 1954.
Jack’s long career managing operations & quality in Aluminum fabrication &
finishing plants enabled him & his family to live & work in many places throughout
the world, ultimately retiring in Texarkana after working for Alumax. While Jack
valued the uniqueness of each place they lived, Montana never left his heart. One
time Jack was taking friends on a trip from Texas to Montana. The friend (from
West Virginia) remarked at the starkness of the landscape during the trip. Jack
replied, “It sure is nice & open isn’t it”. Jack always saw the good & beauty of an
area.
A small immediate family ceremony will be held to commemorate Jack’s passing
upon cremation, however Jack desires to wait for his wife Eileen to join him &
have their extended families accompany the two of them to their final resting
place in Montana, overlooking the Yellowstone River & the Beartooth mountains.
The entire family will celebrate Jack’s return to Montana & the life of Jack & Eileen
at that time.
Jack was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Texarkana.
Rather than a traditional ceremony, the family requests that you spend a few
minutes in your own way to send wishes or remember your time with Jack
Rothwell. Rest assured that friends of Jack always held a special place in his
memory. In lieu of flowers, The Rothwells would welcome donations to Texarkana
Hospice or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in memory of Jack Rothwell.
