

John Hoyal Sturman of Texarkana, AR passed away December 12, 2011. He was 81 years old. He was born April 11, 1930 in Antoine, AR. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force; retired from Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant; a Mason; and a member of South State Line Baptist Church, Texarkana, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Tommy Sturman of Antoine, AR; one son, Jimmy Wayne Sturman of Naples, TX; one grandson, Buford "Tripper" C. York, III; one great grandson, Marvin Metcalf, Jr., all of New Boston, TX; and one special nephew, James Allen Sturman of Hot Springs Village, AR.
Mr. Sturman is survived by 5 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Becky and John Nowlin and Linda Gail and the late Buford "Blu" York, Jr., all of New Boston, TX, Jo'Nell Sturman of Old Boston, TX; Carolyn Lemons and Stan Claassen of Wake Village, TX and Sandra Copeland of Texarkana, AR; 6 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; 5 great granddaughters; 5 great grandsons; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Kathleen Sturman of Hot Springs, AR; one niece, Brenda Kirksey of Amity, AR; one nephew, Paul "Tubby" Sturman, Jr. of Delight, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Travis Payne officiating. Burial is under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.
