Lonnie Duren,(90), of Texarkana, Texas ,and previously a long time resident of Hooks, Texas, passed away on February 11, 2024 at The Retreat at Kenwood Hospice Care. He was a Christian who loved his Savior Jesus Christ.
Lonnie was born to Luther and Paralee Duren on November 04, 1933 in New Boston, Texas. He retired from Red River Army Depot as Fire Chief and operated Lonnie Duren Heating & Air Conditioning in Hooks, Texas for many years. Lonnie was also employed with East Funeral Home in Texarkana for over 10 years. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors to include camping with his wife and grandkids and loved bluegrass music. He will be truly missed by many of his friends and family.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Jerolyn Duren. He is survived by his son, Steve Duren of Texarkana, Texas and daughter, Shelly Greer and husband Richard of Texarkana, Texas, grandson, Blake McKellar and wife Julia and great grandsons, Micah and Luke McKellar of Fort Worth, Texas, stepdaughter, Linda Kurtz of Texarkana, Arkansas and stepson, Jerry Pippins and wife Sue of Austin, Texas, sister, Ouida Lann of DeKalb, Texas and brother, Max Duren of Bryant, Arkansas along with many other family members.
Lonnie’s funeral will be at East Funeral Home on Moores Lane in Texarkana, Texas on Friday, February 16 at 10:00 A.M. with visitation on Thursday at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Burial will be at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Hooks, Texas.
