Madelene Ellyson

She was a violinist and played with the Houston Civic Symphony and other orchestras and churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. Madelene mentored students and participated in the Houston Youth Symphony. In her early years she trained young dancers and assisted with theatrical assemblies. She graduated from local high school and attended college in her home state.

In the early 1960's the Ellyson family moved to Texarkana. Husband Add Ellyson was the first City Manager in Texarkana, Arkansas. The family later settled in Houston, Texas for the next three decades. They chose to return to Texarkana as their retirement home.

Mrs. Ellyson is preceded in death by her husband Add Ellyson. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Gayle and Mike Sharp and a son and daughter-in-law Guy and Tana Ellyson all of Texarkana.

Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Tuesday at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane with Rev. Roger Copeland officiating. Private family burial will follow in East Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends Monday, December 2, 2013 at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane from 6 to 8 P.M.
