Mark Hariam Lawley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012. Mark was a long-time resident of Texarkana, a respected financial professional, and a devoted Christian. He graduated in 1956 from Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a distinction which led to his service in the United States Army in 1957 and again from 1961-62. Mark served as a First Lieutenant and Battery Commander in the 36th Armored Division at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Ft. Dix, New Jersey, and Ft. Polk, Louisiana, and he was active during the Berlin Crisis. Before beginning his military service, Mark established a career as a Certified Public Accountant, and he returned to this career once his active duty ended, ultimately amassing more than 50 years of experience as a tax professional, most of them as a partner at the local firm of Grier, Reeves & Lawley, P.C. He was also active in his community as a member of the Wilbur Smith Rotary Club and in his faith as Gideon, Sunday School teacher, and Ordained Deacon at Rose Hill Baptist Church. The accomplishments and legacy of Mark’s life, both public and private, all speak to his sincere love for God, country, and family.
Mark is survived by his wife of 51 years, Fran, their three sons, Tim, Joseph, and John, three daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
