Polly Jane Johnson Shumake

Polly was born August 6, 1935 in the Sand Hill community of Bowie County, Texas to Samuel H Johnson and Gracie Pippen Johnson. She was retired from Pleasant Grove Independent School District and was a member of First Baptist Church, Nash, Texas. She was a member of the Wake Village Garden Club and an avid gardener. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Nolan. Polly and Nolan were married for 66 and a half years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Nolan Shumake, her parents Sam and Gracie Johnson, her three brothers and two sisters in law: Sam and Ima Katherine Johnson, Charles and Margie Johnson and Gerald Johnson and by her daughter in law Susan Shumake.

She is survived by: two sons and a daughter in law Tommy and Denise Shumake of Texarkana, TX and Mark Shumake of Ft Worth, TX, two grandsons and their spouses: Chris and Megan Shumake of Little Rock, AR and Andy and Anna Shumake of Texarkana, TX; three great-granddaughters Eliza, Lenore and Emily Shumake; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 22 at 10 am, immediately followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am at East Funeral Home, Moores Lane, Texarkana, TX, with interment at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, Texarkana, TX
