Thank you Jeanie for the letter. My bond with Ruth was Methodist history. She was devoted to the preservation of the history of our church. Her energy and enthusiasm were matched by her faith in the power of the past to guide us in the future. She was an inspiration and a joy to those of us who shared this interest. Over the years she was a faithful correspondent. I remember the first time I met her. I heard that distinctive voice first, and turned to see that wonderful smile that lit up her face under her red beret.

Aunt Ruth was one in a million.  She managed to keep the entire extended family up to date on everyone.  I am sure she is in line for sainthood and will be helping the Lord wherever he needs it.  She is already missed.

Ruth was Director of the YWCA camp I attended in 1955, Camp Tres Rios.  She was a wonderful role model for young girls and truly influenced so many young women thru the years.

Thank you so much for your letter, Ruth's obituary, and John's "thoughts on Memaw".  Ruth and Eugene were dear friends of my parents, Estelle and Herman Critzer,  for years when they lived in Ashdown.  I visited them every time I came to see my parents.  The last time I saw Ruth was as a line dancer during a festival- I think it was in Ashdown.  My sister, Wanda, and I were amazed at her agility and fun-loving spirit!  My mother died in 1993 and Daddy in 2002.  Ruth will be missed by many- especially  by that large loving family I saw on the wonderful video the funeral home did.  Thank you again for staying in touch with Ken and me about Ruth.

Ruth and I have corresponded for more than sixty years.  I miss her already.  We were not only cousins; we were best friends.  My children and their children loved her.  Ruth never said an unkind word of anyone.  She always spent a few days with us when she traveled to Ohio and we were welcomed  in her home and into her family. During WW11 Ruth came to Merced, CA to be the Director of the USO there.  That is where I met her, and spent many hours at the USO and getting together for trips to Yosemite Park, movies, just sitting atround talking, meeting her in Los Angeles for a weekend.  She was a "light" in my world.  We started corresponding and I always looked forward to getting her next letter, telling about her 'new home' the activites, her family, and memories of time in Merced. Thank you Jeanie for notifying me of Ruth's death.  She is one of my dear friends who have passed away within the past few yeas.  I hold Ruth and Eugene in many fond memories in my heart.

Ruth was a friend and mentor for many years.  She was CE director at the church during my junior  high and senior high school  years and remained a loyal friend all her life.  We have lost a great lady and great friend, but we know where she is and can rejoice in that.

One of the nicest ladies We have ever met. My wife Barbara served on the Y board way back when. I worked at SWEPCO years ago when she worked there. We will miss her smile and kindness.

Ruth was an amazing woman. She adopted our family when I was very young and we lived in Ashdown. Throughout the years, she managed to follow us as we moved around and wrote the nicest cards and letters. My sisters and I are lucky to have had her in our lives, and I send my sincerest condolences to her family, and give thanks to God that she crossed our path.

So sorry to hear of Ruth's passing.  She was so wonderful to Bill, Katy, and I.  She always raised us up when things weren't great.  I just can't tell you what a blessing she has been.  Such a wonderful role model and some one that everyone admired. Beautiful, courageous, and so gracious.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ruth over the Holidays just days before her death. She was a wonderful person.I am glad that Kirby and I saw her everyday during our Christmas Holidays , I know she will be missed by all of us, and I am glad I got to meet her as Kirby spoke about her always.We saw her the day we left to come back to South Carolina and her last words to me were that "She Loved Me and that I was part of her family". I will truly miss this Fine lady.

Ruth has been such a wonderful inspiration to youth (no matter how many birthdays we've celebrated!) in this area for decades.  She always had that same sweet smile for everyone.  She has been such a treasure to Texarkana and Ashdown residents and will be missed as she joins Eugene in heaven.

Ruth gave so much to everyone she knew and to everything she did.  We are all better for having known her and our world is better because she was here.

She was one fine lady!!! She taught me so much through her guidance at the YWCA. Glad I was able to see her this past Monday playing Bingo and enjoying life she was just such a wonderful person and always had a smile. She will be greatly missed.
