born on January 4, 1981, in Hyderabad, India, and was the youngest of 6 children born to parents
Ratnaswamy and Josephine Emmanuel. At an early age, his parents instilled a love of Jehovah in him which fueled his desire to help others through the preaching and teaching work. Therefore, at the young age of 13, Sam was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Samson (“Sam”) or “Shama” (Sam Uncle) as his nieces and nephews affectionately called him, worked
as his own boss in his construction business, Sam & Company. But that is not where his talent ended -
Sam was a special person with many gifts, as he also had a passion for cooking and tailoring as well. As
the owner of Masala Food Truck, Sam was the first person registered in Bowie County to open a food truck that featured many authentic Indian dishes and delicacies, which became well-known throughout the local area. Learning how to tailor at a young age, Sam had many private clients that he did sewing for,
including partnerships with formal dress shops in the Camden and Texarkana area to perform alteration
services on men’s and women’s formal clothing. He also worked for Jos A. Bank as their In-House Tailor
for many years until the store’s closing in the Texarkana area. Sam also spoke up to 6 different languages, including some basic signing of American Sign Language when needed. Samson moved to America in 2008, and shortly after his entry here, decided to settle down in Camden, AR, where he met his spiritual parents Clifford and Johnlyn Burroughs, and attended the Camden congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In 2011, Sam married Regenia Emanuel and relocated to the Texarkana, AR area, whereby he became a member of the Texarkana, AR congregation. Samson had a beautiful heart, and as a result, was very kind and sensitive to the needs of others. He was also very witty and had a great sense of humor - which made him instantly memorable to most and allowed him to easily become a friend to all who met him. Sam was a loving family man, a kind and considerate brother, a reliable friend, and an honest businessman. He will be missed dearly by many, and his memory will live on forever in our hearts.
Samson was preceded in death by his mother, Harriet Josephine Emmanuel, and brother in-law Nadhan
Augustine, both of Hyderabad, India.
He is survived by his wife Regenia Emanuel - Texarkana, AR; Father - Ratnaswamy Emmanuel; 2 Brothers - Anthony (Usha Kiran) Emmanuel and Benedict (Sheeba) Emmanuel; 3 sisters - Amala Mary Augustine; Maria (Joseph) Francis; and Juliet Emmanuel, all from Hyderabad, India. Spiritual parents - Clifford and Johnlyn Burroughs - Camden, AR; Spiritual sister – Sheila Leech of Little Rock, AR; In-Laws - Willie & Wanda Hill - Texarkana, AR. He is also survived by many extended family members, including nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much.
Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. at East Funeral Home, 602 Olive St, Texarkana, TX, 75501. The repast will be held at: The Collins Home, 1915 Olive Street, Texarkana, TX, 75503.
