I just heard of Steven's passing. I remember going to High School and Church with Steven. We even working together briefly refinishing windows. I've always considered Steven a good friend and someone I looked up to. I just can't believe he is gone. My prayers go out to the whole Shidemantle family. I feel very privileged to have know them.

I was so sorry to hear of Steven's passing. I remember when Beth and I were in Junior High School when he arrived. What a cute little guy with that wonderful red hair. My sincere sympathy. God bless you all.

I know I am late in learning about Dr. Shidemantles passing. I'm finding it hard to believe at this moment. He and I talked at length on March 26th. I am a former student of his at Purdue. I found him to be an inspirational instructor and a true friend. He shared very applicable stories from his time as a principal with our class. I sought his assistance recently because I had the biggest professional opportunity of my career and I wanted his advice for my interview. He was happy to help me and I am forever grateful.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Debbie and the entire Shidemantle family.  Steve was an awesome co-worker and a dear friend during our time at KJH.  I'll never forget all the great conversations we had about engaging instruction and professional development. Steve will be missed!

I am deeply saddened to learn of Steve's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of our time working together at Katy JH. One of the funniest ones was around the time "No Child Left Behind" was adopted. Steve was going through some records with a group of teachers to verify kids had the credit they needed to move on to high school. I'll never forget after a few minutes him looking up and commenting, "Well I got news for you. There will be some kids left behind." My thoughts and prayers go out to Debbie and the rest of his family. He truly brightened the lives of everyone with whom he came into contact.

It's very hard to find the right words to say at a time like this. I met Steve shortly after he became Assistant Principal at Katy Jr. High.  We just seemed to click from the first meeting.  Every time we met at a school function for my girls. it was like we had been friends forever. I was sad in part when he told me he was moving to Texarkana,  but I was happy for him and his family. I remember thinking that we may never see each other again in this lifetime,  but I knew one day we would meet again in heaven. I firmly believe that. I know from the conversations we had during his tenure at katy, that even though his working aspirations were important to him, his family was more important. He loved his wife and his whole family. Being a family man myself,  I could identify with him on so many levels. Steve was a good man,  a really good man. I believe the people we meet in life and connect with are the very people we knew and were close with in heaven before we came to this earth. God Blessed us in allowing us to meet up again here. I  know we will see him again. I pray for the peace that surpasses all understanding for your family, that god will lift you up and give you strength. In Jesus name, Amen.

Dear Shidemantle family,
Dr. Shidemantle was the Assistant Principal when I attended Katy Junior High. My clearest memory of him is when he gave me my first detention (but never actually had me serve it). My childlike reasoning at the time told me that he was a "pretty cool principal." Now as I'm about to graduate college, I read through his long list of accomplishments. I can't believe all that he's done in his life. I wish that I had a different, more interesting memory of him. I wish that I'd heard him tell stories of his time in the Marines or learned what he was doing for his doctoral dissertation. But I wanted to share my memory, however small, for my heart still did drop when I saw news of his passing. I may have a seemingly insignificant memory of him, but I want you, the family, to know just how many lives he reached. Love and prayers to you and God bless.

Dr. Schidemantle was the most caring principal. He definitely made my years at Katy junior high well worth it. I will never forget how he would try to get all of my classes attention... So finally he stood up on a table! He did this quite often because junior high kids just don't listen! My heart goes out to his family. He was such a great man. May he rest in peace!

Debbie, Ross, Joelle, and Stephen:   Words cannot express the heartache myself and my girls are feeling.  To say "we are sorry for your loss" is not enough.  We are all so VERY GRATEFUL FOR OUR LAST VISIT together with him.  We had such an awesome time and he helped Shae with her Chemistry homework, spoke with Shelby privately about how you guys were always going to be there for her and always lifting her up.  Im so very grateful for everything Steve gave to every child at Katy Jr. High...there just arent enough accolades.  He was a wonderful man, honest and true. I am so sorry for the family loss.  Steve and I were in high school together and he was such a wonderful person.  He sat behind myself and my cousin Cindy in home room.  There was some years later I ran into Steve while I was back in Butler such a friendly guy.  You will be missed and thought of often.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You were one of the most loving families I knew growing up in Butler and I remember Steve had a wonderful loving fullfilling childhood. The last time I saw him he was head to toe in military dress at the church. Know that he is fine and there is always a bigger picture in this universal infinitude. Peace and support as he travels back into light and his heart guards over you through the rest of your lives.
