

Warene Marie Coney was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 12, 1962. She graduated from Warren Easton Senior High School in 1980. Warene was trained and worked in the field of case management, nursing assistance, and medical assistance before 2005. As a result of Hurricane Katrina, Warene moved to Texarkana. In Texarkana, Warene obtained a Bachelor of Art in Business Administration (2009) as well as a Master of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction (2012) from Texas A&M University- Texarkana. Additionally, Warene was a previous student of Liberty University’s Online Doctorate Program of Community Care and Counseling.
Warene worked for the Texas Independent School District as a teacher’s aide, Community Healthcore as a family partner, Domestic Violence Prevention of Texarkana as a shelter worker, and First Choice Pregnancy Center as their Education Coordinator.
Warene was also very instrumental in the Healing Place of Texarkana, providing case management, mentorship, and assisting the director with daily operations. Additionally, she was an entrepreneur and artist. She also participated in several community organizations in both Texas and Arkansas.
In New Orleans, Warene attended Christian Unity Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dwight Webster and was a part of the choir as well as liturgical dance ministry. In Texarkana, Warene was a member of Christ Nations Church under the leadership of Senior Pastor Isaac Pitre, Pastor Iran Pitre, and Assistant Pastor Cedric Weatherall, where she was a part of the women’s ministry, media team, and liturgical dance team. She also had very close ties to Biblical Lifestyle Center under the leadership of Rabbi’s Son, Bill Bullock, Sr. Additionally, Warene was a part of life groups with Church On The Rock-Texarkana, under the leadership of Pastor John Miller, Senior Pastor, and Mike Ulmer, Executive Pastor.
Warene leaves behind her daughter Rokeya (Coney) Horton, her son Syronne Coney, Sr. (Kambamba), five grandchildren, Alexis, Aumira, Syronne, Jr., Trinity Horton, Sage, one great grand child, Alani, and a host of family and friends.
Memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Biblical Life Style Center at 907 CR 2311, Texarkana, TX. officiated by Rabi Bill Bullock and Pastor Iran Pitre.
