Allyson was born in New York City to Charlotte and Charles Drury and was baptized in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Allie was the second born, her older sister is Irene and it holds true that when you have a sister, you have a best friend. Allie’s younger brother is Chuck (Charles), who she adoringly referred to as “Bro”. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from C.W. Post in Long Island, Allie started a job with British Airways where she enjoyed a 32+ year career in Quality and Performance Management, made lifelong friends and embraced the perks and travel that came with it! Her job took her from NYC to Chicago to Houston. Most importantly, it brought her to the love of her life, William “Bill” Johnson, known to her as “Hubby”. Allie was coming back from a trip with her dear friend, Patti Olson, and Bill had just finished work. They met in the Elk Grove Lounge near the O’Hare Airport in Chicago, a typical hang out for airline employees. Allie saw Bill sitting at a table and Bill initiated an introduction. They dated for 5 years and were married on October 11, 1980. Allie and Bill were blessed with the most loving marriage and enjoyed the quiet daily moments together as much as the fantastic places they visited. And, oh did they see and experience the World together! While they literally saw it all visiting six of the seven continents, Allie’s favorites included Egypt, India, Indonesia, flying the BA Concord, Viking Boat Cruises throughout Europe, and her deep love of elephants came from her extraordinary African travels.
Allyson’s Catholic faith was an integral part of her daily life. She was an active member at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church and believed serving others and kindness was one of the greatest gifts. She was active in her Scripture Study group, Interfaith of The Woodlands and St. Vincent De Paul where she helped to feed the hungry with God’s love each week, and International Friends where she welcomed all, created friendships and enjoyed the opportunity to learn about foreign cultures.
Allie believed it was a privilege and honor to be able to care for her mother, Charlotte Drury, for ten years in Bill and Allie’s home in The Woodlands. She was an extraordinary caregiver during her mother’s final years of life. Many of Allie’s characteristics come from her mom and she deeply cherished this time together.
Allie was the definition of a shining light and love. She cared deeply for all those around her. She will be remembered by all for her generosity, compassion, enormous heart, her gift of gab and her smile. Allyson will be missed endlessly and loved forever. Rest in Heavenly Peace Dear Allie. XOXO
