Anna Belle Hunt was born in Sinton, Texas on September 8, 1928. She graduated from Sinton High School in 1947 and began her working career in the San Patricio County Tax Office. In 1951, she agreed to a blind date and met Cecil A. Koenig. The date was obviously a success; the two were married on August 17, 1952. For the next 15 years, she was a full-time homemaker raising three sons, but also found time to take classes at Sam Houston State Teachers College. Cecil and Anna Belle added a fourth son to their family in 1968. Many hours were spent in caring for her boys and doing the endless array of obligations and activities that come with parenting four sons. Once her family was grown, she put a love of sewing to work to help others. She devoted much of her time to piecing quilts for a ministry that provided comfort and warmth to hospital patients and the elderly. Who knows how many people have appreciated her time, skills and generosity
Anna Belle was an unfailingly kind woman who looked for the positive in people and situations. She listened well to others, but rarely talked about herself and though she was soft spoken, she possessed an underlying strength and toughness. She was an extremely diligent worker doing whatever was necessary to complete the task. And she was a master at reusing, a fixer of broken pieces who never wasted anything.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing dominoes, and she and Cecil were formidable 42 players. Anna Belle loved cooking for her family, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. But by far the most important things, the anchors for her life, are the love and commitment that she shared with her partner in life and love, Cecil, and the foundation of her strong faith in Jesus Christ.
Anna Belle is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Cecil A. Koenig; four sons, Ron (Debbie) Koenig, Randy (Patsy) Koenig, Rick Koenig, and Rob (Kim) Koenig; eleven grandchildren, Keith (Lauren) Koenig, Kevin (Viktoriya Metelitsa) Koenig, Lindsey Koenig, Michael (Brian Resendes) Koenig, Brianna (Jeff) Johnson, Wesley Koenig, Jordan (fiancé- Christina), Jennifer (Alex) Adam, Cecilia Koenig, Vivian Koenig, and Bethany Koenig; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, James, and Sophia Koenig; and her sister Lillie Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elkin and Annie Hunt, and brother, Louis Hunt.
