AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Betty June Phillips

20 juillet 1950 – 17 novembre 2024
Avis de décès de Betty June Phillips
AUX SOINS DE

Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery

Betty June (BJ) Boshears Phillips spread her wings and took flight Sunday 17 November 2024 after a brief and courageous battle with pneumonia brought on by lung cancer. Surrounded by her loved ones with a sense of calm and assurance, her last words were "I enjoyed the ride."

Born in St. Louis Missouri on 20 July 1950, she would move to Texas in 1985 and officially become an adopted Texan living much of that time in the Conroe, Woodlands, and Spring areas.

As a young woman, her greatest dream was to be a housewife and a mother. The world had other plans, and uncovered her natural ability for business and retail. She began her career of service at the age of 16 working as a car-hop at her local Steak and Shake, followed by work in factories, pet shops, childcare centers, a brief stint with her own business and finally rounding out her professional experience with over 3 decades of service in the Walmart corporation. With only a highschool education, she worked her way through the ranks at Walmart starting as a cashier and eventually being named a co-manager her last several years. As a manager, a mother, and a friend, she pushed you to do more and to do better even when you thought you couldn't, she always knew you could. She had a strong faith and a high expectation of herself and all those around her. She would never ask you to do something she wasn't willing to do and she had a strong work ethic she passed on to her children.

At 5 ft 2 1/2 she loved dancing, music - especially Alabama, movies, fried green tomatoes, homemade pie crust - she always said her's was the best, researching genealogy and exploring old cemeteries, adventuring with her family, history and mystery and was just as ready to chase a thief across a Walmart parking lot as she was to bake dozens of cookies always looking for a volunteer to taste her newest creation. Her curiosity and natural crafting ability led her to apply her talents on ceramics, sewing, crocheting, t-shirts, cups and more. Her most recent venture was with homecoming mums. If she could find the tools she was going to figure out how to make it. Her neighbors said she set the standard on flowerbeds, holiday decorations, spoiling the local hummingbirds and battling the yard varmints. She was always prepared for any disaster, with back-up plans and resources to support her and anyone else in need. She never met a flashlight (or gadget) she didn't like!

Her passions were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her work, and God.

Preceded in death by her father Carl Reeves Boshears, her mother Delilah Lucille Corzinne Massey, her husband Kyle Carlton Phillips Jr, and her brothers Duke, Tommie, & Terry. She is survived by her children Mike, Cory, April and Joshua, their children Michael Jr., Andrew, Kyle, Trey, Matthew, and Michaela along with three great grandchildren Haiden, Jason, and AnnaLynn. Not to be forgotten are her extended family members across the nation and the numerous adopted family members and friends both in her neighborhood and from her many years at Wal-Mart. Each person was incredibly special to her. She was well loved and she loved well.

The family welcomes memorial gifts made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (stjudes.org) or Shriner's Children's Hospital (shrinerschildrens.org)
