Charlie was our friend and brother. We will never forget the wonderful memories we shared with him and the family! I will never forget the way he said, “Hello Britney” in his fake country accent. Haha. What a blessing it is to have those memories. Thank you Charlie for being an amazing person and we know you’re in heaven having some jack and coke with Adrians Dad. Cheers until we meet again.

Joel and I are heavily saddened hearing that Charlie Boy passed into eternal life.  He was definitely a character and full of life and laughter.  Charlie was our first born nephew to the Franquez St clan.  He was so welcomed by his grandparents and also by my parents.  We so needed new kids in the neighborhood.  I remember my son, TJ, playing with Matt and Rita Grace, and TJ always following Charlie and doing whatever Charlie was up to.  Lots of tricks with the boys in those days.  We always enjoyed seeing Charlie when we lived on Guam in the 80s.  On one of his adult birthday years, he dared to jokingly scold me for wishing him a "Happy Birthday, Charlie Boy!"  he said "Auntie Rose, I am no longer Charlie Boy, pleeeze!"  Too bad, I responded, your our Charlie Boy forever.  

I was elated when Charlie and Lani, my niece from my Taitano side, hooked up!  They were a perfect pair.  My prayers, sympathy and love go out to you, Lani, and to the children.  

For Esther and Charlie Sr, you were the best parents.  I admire your deep faith and strength to hold yourselves and family together at this time.  I can never feel your grief and sorrow for losing a child, but do know we are at your side in spirit.  

I pray for all of you.   Charlie Boy has always held a warm spot in my heart which will remain forever.  May he rest in eternal light and peace.  Love to you all.

Hanging out with Charlie at work or at his house was always cool and funny,  but somehow all the jokes was on me... lol 😆 we both enjoyed the same old-school R & B  and old-school Rapp music and we often discuss what we were doing back in the day as we listened to each others play list and laugh about old times.  I'm gonna miss you my brother. Gone to soon!

This photo was taken when you were on your way to da mainland and we had lunch with your dad at this restaurant sad to say no longer there. It saddens Joe and I that we will not be able to meet up this summer, as planned with Lani.  More so, that we can't physically comfort Lani and your family during your celebration of New Life. But know that the fond, happy, crazy memories of Angel football days, movie, party nights and days at your house will always be cherished.  Especially the one memory at Lynn's house when they asked us both if we can still Polynesian dance?? Haha! I danced, you paote'd with your gout leg! LoL and so the answer was.. yes, we can! 
Thank you Brother Charlie for being a part of our lives and our children's as well! Rest in Paradise! 


It saddens me after receiving this news. Charlie was our go to person in Systems while stationed at Andersen AB, GU. His sense of humor and his comical jokes would brighten up any room along with Momma Bobbi Blas.  He made my tour fun and could always find the answer of when and where to go so island life would not become stale.We are going to miss this ole boy but God gained a rose. RIP dear. ~Mimi~ 

Just a few years ago, Charlie boy and Lani visited our home in the South Bay Area when they lived nearby in the East Bay. After an early dinner, we talked about whether Charlie and Lani had tried a foot massage and they hadn’t but were game to try it out. We made an appointment for the four of us, and our son Steven, at a nearby F.M. place we had been to before. What then happened was hilarious, even to this day just thinking about it. We arrived at the F.M. and were shown our adjoining reclining chairs that folded flat. I was a couple chairs away from Charlie boy and after we had just started, heard him moaning pretty loudly. Most people in the massage area try to stay quiet, but not Charlie. His masseur had to ask him if he was OK, and Lani interjected with “Oh he likes it hard!” ,then Charlie said something like: “Oh, this is the best massage I’ve ever had!”. Good Times!

Charlie Boy is my eldest nephew and I have fond memories going all the way back to when he was a baby. I was 11 or 12 years old at the time when his mom and dad (Esther, my sister, and Charlie) lived in a modest apartment in East Agana. They asked me to babysit a couple times when they wanted a “date night” out (or whatever) and I happily obliged - since they had really cold air conditioning! I recall Charlie Boy being an easy baby to watch, never fussing. I either had to give him his bottle, burp him and then put him to bed, or he may have already been asleep. As an adult, I used to tease him that I’d changed his diapers when he was a baby, so he’d better show some respect 😊. It’s ironic, because Charlie Boy is one of the most respectful relatives I’ve ever known.

In my 20’s, I visited my family on Guam with my (then fiancé, Kathy, now my wife). Charlie boy may have been 14 or 15 y.o. at the time. One day, we were at my mom and dad’s house for a get-together, and we eventually gathered in the carport area chatting and having drinks. Charlie Boy remembered I used to jump up and hang off the roof ledge of the house when I was growing up (yeah, I know, an *odd habit*) and with his loud laugh, said: “Just watch, Uncle Joe is gonna hang off the roof again!” Kathy recalled that, with his huge impish smile, he challenged me to see who could do more pull-ups hanging on the ledge… I don’t recall who won that challenge, so let’s just keep that a mystery…


Charlie Boy was a best friend/cousin to my other half Andrew Ray Castro.  Their personalities are the some what alike.   They were both always the  life of the party and looked out for everyone.    May his spirit watch over his family and friends and may the perpetual light shine on you Charlie.  You will be greatly missed.

Like Andrew, my Parents, Siblings, (Jeanette, Edith, Victor) and brother-in-laws Tom  and Ben.   God chose to brighten the heavens with Charlie’s love, compassion and goodness.

I was stationed with Charlie in Guam from 2005-2008 then got to see him a couple of times once he moved to Houston.  Hearing of his passing broke my heart, however when I think of him I smile! He was always able to make people laugh and smile.  He was full of the devil while being the sweetest person ever! Charlie will forever be missed. He was able to imprint a lasting impression on everyone he met! R.I.P. 

I grew up with Charlie Boy in Maite. He was my oldest cousin even though we weren’t blood related. Our moms and dads were super close and my dad considered his grandma Auntie Lou as a second mother. 

Charlie Boy was the best older cousin you could have. He always was in a good mood and always looked out for us. He was the life of the party and had the spirit of his parents and grandparents in his heart. 

It was too cool that he ended up marrying my cousin Lani. I thought he would be back in Guam this summer. I never expected him to pass this young. 

Like my dad, God chose to brighten heaven with Charlie Boy’s love, compassion and goodness. 

We will miss him forever.   

My condolences to Lani, his children, and ofcourse Auntie Esther and Uncle Charlie. Much love to Matt and my godbrother Nick, who benefited from having him as an older brother.

There is nothing that I can say to comfort your parents, your children and your brother.  Just know that you are SO missed and that I regret not being there when you needed your friends the most.
