Dennis graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. He dedicated 44 years of his career to government service, spending 37 of those years working as an Industrial Engineer for N.A.S.A. where he earned various achievements and titles.
On January 31, 1959, Dennis married Janice Wolfenden. Together they traveled extensively, visiting Canada, Mexico, Europe seven times, and exploring all over the U.S. with Hawaii being his favorite destination. He completed three marathons showcasing his dedication to training and his adventurous spirit.
For many years of his life Dennis committed himself to coaching all three of his children in the various sports they played in childhood. His son David played football, Jennifer chose softball, and even though Dennis knew nothing about soccer, he devoted his time to learning as much as he could, ensuring the coaching title to his eldest daughter Debi, while she played.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Janice Doherty; his three children: David (Lorraine) Doherty, Debi Burden, and Jennifer (Rick) Lester. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Matthew (Patti) Burden, Blaine Burden, Blair Burden, Dillon Doherty, Logan (Zack) Lester Tafelski, Madison (Austin) Fairchild, and Ricky (Jordan) Lester. Dennis also cherished his three great-grandchildren: Ava Burden, Kash Burden, and Decker Tafelski.
Dennis was a member of Delta Tau Delta and an indiscriminate dog lover. His greatest achievement, however, was raising a loving and supportive family, a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
