Diane Marie Paur, 70, went to the Lord on August 20, 2014. Diane was born to the late Reilly and Marie Finnegan on March 31, 1944. Diane is survived by her husband of forty six years, Stan, and her three children, Julie Corwin, Andrew Paur and Daniel Paur. The family moved to Houston from Saint Louis in 1979.
Diane was passionate about teaching, volunteering, exercising, travel, art and learning. She was a graduate of the University of Saint Thomas in Houston. She taught in Catholic grade schools for several years. She was committed to community service. She served as President of the Memorial Hermann Hospital Volunteers, as a docent for the Houston Heritage Society, as a volunteer for the New Danville organization and was active in the Texas Tea Party. She loved art and literature and, late in life, decided to pursue her Master’s Degree. She was honored by the University of Saint Thomas for her commitment to lifelong learning.
Besides being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend she will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her compassion and her generosity to those in need. Her greatest joy in life was being “Nana” to her beautiful grandchildren Ian, Hannah, Meredith, Jack and Abigail.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South in The Woodlands, on August 25, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 26, 2014 at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. A reception will be held at The Club at Carlton Woods (Nicklaus Course) following the service. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made to The Diane Paur Scholarship Fund, The University of Saint Thomas, 3800 Montrose, Houston, Texas 77006.
